Surb Astvatsatsin Church, Vagharshapat, Armenia

The church of Surb Astvatzatzin in Vagharshapat was constructed in 1767 by Catholicos Simeon I. Later, in 1986, Catholicos Vazgen I attached a three-story bell-tower to it. Since 1996 Surb Astvatzatzin church has been the residence of the head of Armavir diocese and it was placed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2000.
