Noratus, Armenia

Noratus graveyard with khachkars (cross-stones) is located in the southern part of Noratus village. Khachkars are spread everywhere here- on the tombs and pedestals, there are also ancient monuments, pillars with inscription, and most of them were created in XIII-XVII century. There are two churches in Noratus village. The first church Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) is in the center of village (built by Prince Sahak in IX century). The second church, church of Gregory the Illuminator is located in the suburb of Noratus, in southeast, and it was probably built in IX-X century.
