What is the LEED Certification?Established in 1972, Monterey College of Law is an accredited private law school which offers a 4-year part-time educational program and a 2-year Master of Legal Studies degree for those students and specialists who want to get an advanced law degree. In April 2010 the College opened its second building which earned LEED Platinum certification for its achievements in sustainable and innovative design. Since then the remodeled building, which once was a military building, has served as Community Justice Center. It’s a perfect example of how an abandoned military building can be successfully redesigned according to LEED standards. Photovoltaic solar panels installed on the roof of the building produce electricity. The environmentally sustainable building features also water-efficient fixtures and extensive use of natural daylight. The 557 square meters (6000 square feet) building includes classrooms and administrative offices, as well as a law library. The main contractor of the building ւաս Ausonio Inc. which got an award “For Innovations in Construcion Materials and Techniques”.
