Gurgaon Development Center, Gurgaon, India

What is the LEED Certification?

With gross floor area of about 14,864 square meters (160,000 square feet), Gurgaon Development Center (or Wipro technologies development center, Gurgaon) was built by the design of architect Vidur Bhardwai. The new green building earned LEED Platinum certification and became the largest project in Asia with such a prestigious rating in sustainability. The most unique feature of the center is its courtyard with a so-called “haveli”. The latter is a specific climate-generator which manages to reduce energy consumption. Besides, by channeling light and air, it is possible to save 46% on electricity. While designing the building, the architect also used the method of free cooling and air filters which help to save on electricity. The roof is covered with gardens almost totally (approximately 82%). The employees of the building enjoy high-quality indoor conditions, fresh air and natural daylight.
