Church of Tigran Honents, Ani, Turkey

The church of Tigran Honents or the church of Gregory the Illuminator was built in 1215 by a wealthy merchant Tigran Honents. Besides constructing the church, he also provided inventory, such us lamps, crosses, religious relicts, gold and silver vessels. At that period the city of Ani was under control of Zakarid noble family.
