Las Vegas Cyclery, Las Vegas, USA

What is the LEED Certification?

Trying to meet the requirements of the prestigious LEED rating system, the designing team created a building which produces 100% of its energy through the whole year. It’s a LEED Platinum certificated “Net Zero Energy Building”, with a specially designed parking lot for Fuel Efficient Vehicles, a bicycle rack for 18 bicycles, which encourages use of bikes instead of cars and drainages for preventing erosion. The most important “green” element of the building is its Renewable Energy Room with a solar PV inverter inside. It converts sunshine into energy which is used to run the electrical equipment of the center. Energy efficiency is provided by occupancy sensors. Gross floor area of the center is 909 square meters (9790 square feet). Energy is produced also by the wind turbines. The designers of the 2-story building also cared for the high productivity of the employees and created healthy environment for them. Use of low VOC materials also contributed to creation of high-quality indoor air. Other important features of sustainable projecting are waterless urinals, dual flush toilets, a silver metal roof equipped with solar panels, etc.

The Cyclery is owned by Jared and Heather Fishers.
