Discovery Park Building 12, Burnaby, BC, Canada

What is the LEED Certification?

Discovery Park Building 12, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada
Discovery Park Building in Burnaby is a commercial office building which occupies about 13,000 square meters (140.000 square feet). The building was awarded LEED Platinum certification in January 2010, though the main target was LEED Gold certification. It’s the first building in Canada with such a high evaluation in the category ''Core and Shell''. The construction is armed with such “green” elements as special checking systems for indoor humidity, temperature and CO2 emissions as well as sensors and operable windows, thanks to which the complex is always full of daylight. A personal computer in the building can adjust the natural light which easily penetrates into the building. Discovery Park Building is an eco-friendly construction not only inside but also outside. The walking paths encourage alternative ways of transportation. The building is surrounded with green spaces. During construction works only local and recycled materials were used.
