Church Of The Holy Apostles (Surp Arakelots) Ani, Turkey

The church of the Holy Apostles was founded by noble Pahlavuni family. There was no inscription about the foundation of the church, however the earliest record on the walls was made in 1031 and tells about land donation by Abughamir Pahlavuni. The church of Holy Apostles had 4 rooms, probably chapels, which were filling the space in the corners. This style was used in Armenia since VII century, but judging this church by decorative elements, stylistically it can be dated to the first third of the XI century.
